CiteMET Method
Fresh
This content reflects Metehan Alp's CiteMET methodology as of 2025-2026.
What CiteMET Stands For
C - Cited I - (connector) T - Trackable E - Effective M - Memorable E - (connector) T - Trackable
The full acronym encodes the four outcomes every piece of content must achieve:
- Cited -- Your content gets referenced by LLMs when users ask relevant questions
- Memorable -- Your brand persists in the LLM's context window and memory across sessions
- Effective -- The citation drives measurable action (traffic, brand recognition, conversions)
- Trackable -- You can measure when and how AI platforms reference your content
Core Concept
CiteMET introduces AI Share Buttons -- a distribution mechanism that injects your content directly into LLM conversations. Instead of waiting for AI crawlers to discover and index your content passively, CiteMET creates direct pathways from your published content into AI platform prompts.
The mechanism works like traditional social share buttons but targets AI platforms instead of social networks.
URL Structures by Platform
Each AI platform accepts URL-based prompts with specific structures:
ChatGPT
https://chat.openai.com/?q=Summarize+this+article+from+[Brand]:+[URL]Perplexity
https://www.perplexity.ai/search?q=What+does+[Brand]+say+about+[Topic]?+Source:+[URL]Claude
https://claude.ai/new?q=Analyze+this+content+from+[Brand]:+[URL]Google AI Mode
https://www.google.com/search?q=[Topic]+site:[domain]&udm=50Grok
https://x.com/i/grok?q=Summarize+[Brand]'s+take+on+[Topic]:+[URL]Platform URL Stability
These URL patterns are based on current platform behavior. AI platforms update their interfaces frequently. Test URLs before deployment and monitor for changes.
Implementation Locations
CiteMET buttons should be placed at every content touchpoint:
| Location | Placement | Priority |
|---|---|---|
| Blog posts | Below the title, above the fold; after conclusion | High |
| Product pages | Near product descriptions and feature lists | High |
| Documentation | Top of each doc page, near code examples | Medium |
| Social media posts | Link in bio, post footers | Medium |
| Email newsletters | Within content blocks, footer CTAs | Medium |
| Landing pages | Near value propositions | Low |
Strategic Benefits
1. Citations
When users click an AI Share button, the LLM receives your URL and brand name directly in the prompt. This creates a citation event -- the AI platform must reference your content because the user explicitly provided it.
2. Memory
Repeated exposure of your brand and URL within AI conversations builds association. LLMs that maintain conversation history (ChatGPT, Claude) develop stronger brand-topic associations over time.
3. Summarization
When your content is fed to an LLM via a share button, the AI summarizes it with attribution. This summary becomes a compressed, high-signal representation of your brand's expertise on that topic.
4. Brand Association
Each CiteMET interaction reinforces the connection between your brand and your topic area. Over time, this creates a pattern where the LLM associates your brand with specific expertise domains even in conversations where your URL was not directly provided.

What Makes This Different
Traditional SEO waits for crawlers. Traditional social sharing targets human audiences on social platforms. CiteMET creates a direct channel between your content and AI platforms, bypassing the passive discovery model entirely. The user becomes the delivery mechanism.
